One of our neighbors has become the foster parent to a group of kittens. The mother cat is one of the strays currently roaming the neighborhood. Fortunately for the kittens, this litter is currently at the home of Owen and Linda Omundsen. We received this information from Owen:
Attached please find a photo of the 4 kittens ( all boys ) that mama cat brought us a few weeks ago.
They have had their first vet visit and shot series and are on the schedule to be neutered in a couple of weeks. As you can see, they are very cute but, since mama is feral, they have taken their clue from her and are suspicious of humans. That should change in the proper adoptive environment.
And that's what we are looking for, a proper adoptive environment. Critters are a responsibility and we want then to go to good homes. As I said, in a couple of weeks they will have had their follow-up shots, will have been neutered, and will be good to go. So if you can put up a blurb about them with my email

Police Beefing Up Security At Piedmont Park
Posted: 4:27 pm EDT April 6, 2010
ATLANTA ~~ Atlanta’s Piedmont Park is about to get a camera surveillance system, Channel 2 Action News reporter Diana Davis has learned. Eight cameras monitored by the Atlanta Police Department will be switched on by the first of May. They're being installed this week as a way to deter crime. Former Atlanta City Councilwoman Anne Fauver is behind the project. She tried for years to get the city to fund the cameras. When it wouldn't, she used her city expense money she'd saved while in office.“You get a certain amount every year and you can spend it in your district or you can spend it for things you have to go to, and I’m a squirrel, so mine, I decided, was going to go to this,” said Fauver. She wrote a check for $50,000 and another $50,000 was matched by The Piedmont Driving Club in exchange for an easement the club needed, said Channel 2’s Davis.“The police applied for a grant to put about four

Sgt. Brent Schierbaum is the supervisor over the burglary unit assigned to Zone 5. His unit is among the best on identifying trends and developing suspects involved in burglaries. His arrest and clear up rate is second to none. He has developed the following information on a burglary crew that is active in our area. Please pass this information on the community so they will be aware of what to look for. Anyone seeing suspects meeting these descriptions loading items into a vehicle should call 911 immediately. Please have the community concentrate on the suspects rather than the vehicles. It is believed that many of the vehicles are stolen prior to committing the burglaries. Thank you for your assistance. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (404) 422-6063.

Please read this e-mail and alert our citizens that we had robberies and multiple car jackings throughout the City of Atlanta (metro wide) last night, including your area.
Please, let us all keep our exterior lights on to illuminate the area. This makes the area unpopular for criminals!

Atlanta is once again facing a crime wave. The MNA is very concerned about the safety of our Midtown residents. Safety has consistently been the consensus #1 priority in the last three MNA member surveys. As a neighborhood organization, it is the role of the MNA to be the voice for our residents and provide leadership on issues confronting our neighborhood.

CORRESPONDENCE / OPENING NOTES
E-mail 1: I want to alert you to a break in on Monroe Circle last night. The owners of the home are away, but relatives are currently staying at the house. The break in happened at about 11pm. The relatives were gone, but arrived home to find the dog acting unusually. Upon investigation they found a back window open, a set of burglar tools lying around, and a few things in a closet ruffled through. They think they might have come home mid-burglary and scared the person off, as it appears nothing was taken and the person left in a hurry. A police report has been filed..

This meeting was the best-attended meeting in a while – the room was packed.Thank you for coming! The MPSA announcement had a large pool of possible topics but there was so much discussion that not all of the topics were covered. It was an open discussion meeting but prostitution and armed robberies in Midtown took up most of the discussion. The prostitute who said she was coming never came, as was expected.

MPSA SPRING MEMBERSHIP DRIVE UNDERWAY
We will officially launch our Spring membership drive this Saturday with a neighborhood wide flyer distribution effort. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Street Captains and any MPSA members who can assist with the flyer effort are asked to meet at 2pm this Saturday, May 7th at 809 Myrtle Street (Elston Collins’ home). We will divide up the streets and distribute flyers throughout Midtown. The flyers have already been stuffed into clear bags and can just be hung on doorknobs. You might want to bring a backpack or other bag with shoulder straps with you to carry the flyers in during distribution.
Membership flyers have historically given us our largest group of new members. If you have some time on Saturday, please help us with this new member effort. Each new member allows us an additional 8 hours of patrols.
If you can assist with this membership drive on Saturday, please email Elston at elst

AN EVENING WITH THE MPSA PATROL
by Steve Gower
Sgt. Miller, our patrol coordinator, had a very busy evening this past Monday patrolling and protecting our neighborhood. 3 subjects were arrested.
The first arrest was a shoplifter at the Shell station. This subject filled a bag with items in the store and walked out. The Shell station called the MPSA Patrol hotline and Sgt. Miller was able to quickly intercept the man and arrest him.
A short time later, at around 11pm, I was out looking for Sgt. Miller to discuss MPSA business when a prostitute tried to get into a car with me at 5th & Piedmont. This was very unusual because we normally don't see prostitution activity until much later like 2-3am and even daybreak. It has been a long time since I have noticed it at that hour, and members have not been telling us about it. I immediately contact Sgt. Miller who attempted to find the subject.
She apparently disappeared into Midtown Manor as we scoured the surrounding area thoro

MNA/MPSA MIDTOWN SAFETY MEETING - March 2005
Date: Monday March 14, 2005
7pm
Mary Mac's Tearoom (Ponce & Myrtle)
The March Safety Meeting will focus on MPSA and its strategies for a safer neighborhood. This will also be the MPSA annual meeting.
We will not address specific incidents but will discuss larger patterns still affecting the area on an ongoing basis. We are not expecting representatives from Atlanta Police this time.
Items discussed will include:
1. The impact of the drug markets along Parkway Drive and Boulevard, and the specific issues which drive them. We are looking for feedback and insights from participants on how best to address this issue.
2. The large numbers of vagrants in the area, and the specific features in the community driving this problem for us. We are seeking feedback and insights from participants on how to deal with this issue too.
3. Other major phenomena in the neighborhood such as Cypress Street, Prostitution, Park issues, and espe
