Midtown Neighbors Association
Atlanta Streets Alive, Peachtree St, May 2013
Status: Archived

The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition is applying for a permit to hold their first Atlanta Streets Alive of 2013 this May 19th. The event will involve the closure of Peachtree Street from Ellis to West Peachtree, between the hours of 1PM and 7PM.

Atlanta Streets Alive, now in its fourth year, is a bi-annual event to promote healthy, recreational use of the streets in a car free environment. Streets are closed to traffic and the public - of all ages - is invited to come play in the street, mingle with their neighbors, and appreciate their city in a car free environment. There is no vending and no stages. Activity partners - for example hulu hooping, jump roping, unamplified singing or music, etc. - can register for designated spots to demonstrate their activity.

As the event approaches, a representative from the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition will attend both NPU-E and NPU-M meetings, as well as all impacted and adjacent neighborhood associations to address any concerns. Please feel free to contact me via email at matt@atlantabike.org or by phone at 404.881.1112 or 404.964.9301.
